Shawi Greetings

Metta hallem/t,
Like all Algerians, Ishawiyen use many forms of greetings : salam, saha, azzul...etc, but the main shawi greeting is : metta hallem/t.

Whenever we shawis meet, we are very likely to begin our conversation by asking metta hallid', "How are you/how is it going?" This is less an enquiry than to establish an emotional connection.
