Film interprété en Chawi par des jeunes de Menaa.

The sketch starts with an argument between Hmadouche and his wife. It seems that their son is gone. He has been missing for a week or so. The wife is upset and urges her husband to go look for the missing son. Hmadouche does not know what do. He blames his wife for the whole thing. He tells her, "it is your fault, you gave him whatever he wanted, you spoiled him..." Hmadouche storms out of the house and heads for the field. He sees aghyul, his trusted friend the donkey, and the following exchange takes place:

Aghyul : arwaH a Hmadouche, arwaH, estraH sya, inayed metta yellan, metta yaSran fellak, ud'em nnek iban yebbarken.
Come, Hmadouche, have a seat, tell me what is happening, what is wrong with you. You don't look good.

Hmadouche
: uTla, uTla a khali, Tarnid' ma dam TuTlayeT blech.
Talk, khali talk.Talk is cheap.

Aghyul : yuseyed lakhabr belli hamnughed' chek d' tamgharT.
I heard you had a fight with the wife.

Hmadouche : akinigh, amagherT d'i haddereT, chek d'aya
Leave the wife out of it.

Aghyul : nech tbanayed memmik ikkred', chek hatnughed' tamaghareT, mani eg iroH?
It seems to me that your son disappears and you are taking it on the wife. Where is he anyway?

Hmadouche : metta ek iroHan d'eg ahyuy? chek d'aghyul ahallid'.
The kid is none of your business. You are nothing but a donkey.

Aghyul : nech d'aghyul a Hmadou, beSaH akinigh, nech tkhammem fellak ud'ekhsegh temnughed' chek t tamghareT. Ad ya3ya memmik wa diwalla.
I might be a donkye, but I'am worried about you having a fight with your wife. Don't worry, your son will come back one day.

Hmadouche
(crying) : wallahi ghir Diqa fellass.
Wallahi, I miss him

Aghyul : sussem a Hmadou, u rennich lham nnek.
Don't cry, Hmadou. Don't upset yourself.

Hmadouche : wallahi, Diqa fellass. dakhal inu itmazzeq
I really miss him. I'm hurting inside.

Aghyul : sussem a Hmadou, barka imattawen nnek.
Stop crying, Hmadou.

Hmadouche : mani had'walligh, mani ad' Hawsegh fellass, mani ad' roHegh, sna3Taya mani ad' roHegh, mani had'welligh : ad' aghligh gher u Chir, ad' roHegh Menaa, mani ad'erga award'i.
Where will I go? Where will I look for him? Just tell me where will I go : should I go to Chir? Should I go to Menaa?

Aghyul : barka imattawen nnek, bark imattawen nnek, enna3ya wa nHawwas fellass wa diwalla. Ad'echa u khadmeghech, ad' awigh lconji, wa nroH nHawwes fellass, AT d'aya yeqrab, d'eg Dahri. EnroH wa nHawwas fellass, wa hdennu3a nech id'ek.
Stop crying, enough tears, I am not working tomorrow, let us go look for him. He is not far from here, somewhere in the south. We will go together and bring him back

Hmadouche : yella d'eg Dahri ?
Is he in the South?

Aghyul : eT d'eg Dahri.
Yes, he is in the south.

Hmadouche : ma yella d'eg Dahri, qarba.
If he is in the south, I'm not far.

Mr. Bean S Tshawit

This is hilarious!

I love this expression : am della3 su botti.
It translates into : It is like watermelon, you try before you buy. A reference to the way the merchants (in popular markets) advertise their watermelon. In other words, you have a taste before you buy.
